Custom WordPress Plugin Development
- SKU
- service-wordpress-plugin
A custom WordPress plugin, built for one specific job on your site. You tell us what it should do, we confirm the scope in writing, then build it to WordPress coding standards with the security basics done properly, and deliver it as an installable zip with the full source code. The base package is one small, single-purpose plugin with one feature, starting at $149.99. The options above add more features and the most common extras, and anything bigger gets a written quote before any work starts.
Who it's for
- Site owners with one missing piece that no existing plugin does quite right, or that would take three plugins and a lot of settings to fake.
- Sites carrying too many plugins. A small plugin that does exactly one job is often easier to keep updated than a large general-purpose one you use a tenth of.
- Snippets that outgrew
functions.php. Code pasted into a theme disappears when the theme changes. A plugin keeps it in one place, under version control. - WooCommerce stores that need a small change to products, the cart, checkout or order handling (WooCommerce integration option).
What's included
- One plugin with one feature. For example: a shortcode that shows content from your site in a specific way; a simple settings page that controls one behaviour; one custom post type with its custom fields and an archive; or a form that validates and saves submissions, or emails them to you.
- WordPress coding standards: the code is checked against the WordPress PHP coding standards, uses WordPress APIs instead of reinventing them, and is prefixed so it does not collide with other plugins.
- Security basics: nonces on every form and action, capability checks on everything an admin can change, input sanitised, output escaped, and database queries prepared.
- Translation-ready text and a clean uninstall that removes the plugin's own settings and data.
- Tested on the current WordPress release and a supported PHP version, with your theme and the plugins you tell us it must work alongside.
- Documentation: a readme that explains installation, settings and usage, plus comments where the code is not obvious.
- Delivered as an installable zip with full source. If you give us a WordPress admin login, we can install it on your staging or live site for you.
- One round of revisions within the agreed scope, and a 30-day bug-fix window after delivery.
How it works
- Assessment. After you order, we contact you to go through your request, your WordPress and PHP versions, your theme and the plugins the new one must work with. You get a short written spec that confirms what the plugin will do. If your request needs more than the package and options you bought, you get a quote for the difference before any extra work starts.
- Build. We build the plugin on our own WordPress development site, never on your live site.
- Your review. You get a build to test, ideally on a staging copy of your site. Tell us what to change, and the revision round is used to bring it in line with the spec.
- Delivery. You receive the final zip and source, or we install it for you.
- Support window. For 30 days after delivery we fix bugs in the plugin. With an updates option, we also keep it working with new WordPress, WooCommerce and PHP releases for 6 or 12 months.
What you get at the end
- A plugin that does what was agreed, and nothing your site does not need.
- Code you can read and keep, with the full source and a readme, so any WordPress developer can work on it later.
- No lock-in: no licence key, no phone-home and no subscription required to keep it running.
What costs extra or needs a quote
These are not part of the base package. The common ones are priced options above; the rest get a written quote after the assessment.
- More than one feature (options above, up to 4; larger plugins are quoted).
- A settings page, Gutenberg blocks, custom admin screens, WooCommerce, a third-party API, multisite or WordPress.org preparation (options above). More than one block or API is quoted.
- Payment gateways. We only build payment integrations where the card form is hosted by the payment provider (an iframe or redirect), so card data never touches your server.
- Widgets for page builders such as Elementor or Divi, and themes or full site builds.
- Importing or migrating existing content, and fixing or changing other plugins or your theme.
- Licences for premium plugins or services the plugin connects to.
- Hosting, server setup and ongoing new features after delivery.
FAQ
Do I need to talk to you before I order?
You don't have to. The assessment happens after you order. If it shows your request needs more than the package and options you chose, we send a written quote for the difference first, and if you decide not to go ahead you get a full refund. If you would rather ask first, use the contact page.
What counts as one feature?
One thing the plugin does that you could describe in a sentence: "show our upcoming events in a grid with a shortcode", "add a Testimonials post type with a star rating field", "send the contact form to a different email depending on the topic". If yours needs several of those, choose the matching number of features, or describe it and we tell you in the assessment.
How long does it take?
It depends on the request and how quickly we get answers and feedback. We give you a realistic schedule in the assessment, not before.
Will it slow down my site?
It is built to load only what it needs, only on the pages that need it. We can't speak for your other plugins, but the one we build won't add work to pages it isn't used on.
Who owns the plugin?
You get the full source code. Like WordPress itself, the plugin is licensed under the GPL (version 2 or later), so you can use it on as many sites as you like, change it and have anyone work on it. We don't sell or publish a plugin built for you.
What does the updates option cover?
Bug fixes, security fixes and compatibility with new WordPress, WooCommerce and PHP releases for 6 or 12 months. New features are not included; we quote them separately.
Can you put it on the WordPress.org plugin directory?
Yes, with the WordPress.org option: we prepare the readme, assets and Plugin Check results, submit it under your account, and handle the review team's feedback. Approval is decided by the WordPress.org team, so we can't guarantee it.
